How to Choose a Room: Ultimate Guide to Carnival Staterooms

carnival cruise rooms for 5

Get ready to relax as you gaze upon Carnival Paradise's gentle wake from your spacious balcony. Standard Carnival Elation room amenities include two twin beds that can be pushed together to form a king, closets, drawers and shelving for storage, a hair dryer, a mini-refrigerator and a safe. An ice bucket is provided, but passengers must request ice from their stateroom steward. Carnival Elation bathrooms are rather basic, featuring showers with plastic shower curtains, except in suites, which have shower/tub combos. Toiletries include shower gel and shampoo, as well as bar soap on the vanity. That’s a minor inconvenience though considering how much money we saved over having two separate cabins.

Cruise Tips for Five-Person Families

Here are some extra tips and things to note for large families considering a vacation at sea. Whether you're looking for a deal or enough space at any cost, here are the best cruise lines for a family of five. We have cruised catt 11 on ccl and jr suite on RCI with our 2dds and changing to 2 8Gs connecting for the space, sinks, showers, toilets and privacy. While the setup of a Cat11 is fantastic, IMO, it would be a stretch for 4 adults preparing for a formal evening with one toddler. All three adults in our 50's, married couple and female friend. Left the beds seperated & rollaway, but very tight quarters when getting ready for dinner.

For the most part, the suites they have are relatively modest in size and amenities compared to the suites at some of the line's rivals. Inside cabins are the cabins you stay in when you're on a tight budget. The takeaway here is that you'll have a tougher time locking down a balcony cabin on an older Carnival ship than on a newer vessel.

However, the lack of natural light and view may not be ideal for everyone. However, the Pullman beds, which are available in some Upper/Lower staterooms, may not be ideal for adults as they are smaller and less comfortable than the regular beds. Compared to other cabin types, Interior rooms are the cheapest and smallest on board. They are perfect for those who don’t plan to spend much time in their cabin and want to save money for other activities. The biggest suites on Carnival Panorama, the ship's eight Grand Suites, have 345 square feet of interior space, plus an 85-square-foot balcony. Contrast that to the biggest suites on Royal Caribbean ships, which can measure more than 1,500 square feet.

If you're planning a cruise on one of the line's older vessels and a balcony cabin is a must, you'll want to book early to make sure you get one. You can also book a balcony cabin and the inside cabin across the hall. Officially, you'll need to book one adult in each room, even if you switch the sleeping arrangements once onboard. Decide if you trust your teens to sleep in a separate room where you're unaware of their comings and goings. When booking a cruise, families of five have lots to consider.

My husband and I stayed in a windowless interior cabin that had a king-size bed.

It could also depend on whether you’re cruising solo, plus-one, with the family or as a group. Other upgraded amenities for Excel suite passengers include complimentary Bottomless Bubbles soda packages, room service and laundry service, sparkling wine upon arrival and upgraded bathroom toiletries. Connecting cabins don't always save you money compared to a family cabin that sleeps five because you're paying four full fares and one reduced one, rather than two full fares and three reduced ones. While having two bathrooms and closets is useful, you also have two doors, including one you can't see from bed, if that's a concern with your children. The connecting doors, when open, can get in the way; in some cabins, connecting cabins will have easy chairs instead of full sofas due to space constraints.

Overall, there is a type of Interior room for every type of traveler, whether you prioritize budget, relaxation, or family-friendly amenities. Consider the decor, amenities, and pros and cons of each category before making your decision. When you’re on a Carnival cruise, you have your choice of stateroom styles and locations designated as Interior, Ocean View, Balcony or Suite.

The Grand Vista Suite is the biggest, located on the uppermost deck… and all this altitude has a way of also elevating the view. As do floor-to-ceiling windows that make sure nothing gets in the way. Even more convenience and comfort come standard, like a huge balcony made for stretching out, a tub that’s great for doing the same, a convenient walk-in dressing area, plus VIP check-in.

The showers in the spa are spacious, have plenty of towels and will cause less hetic in the cabin. Not yet, but we are cruising on the Inspiration in two weeks with an OV room.. We also had 5 in a room when we were on the Truimph in '06. Our daughter was 2 and had the rollaway on the floor.

Consider upgrading to a larger room or booking multiple rooms for more space. While some may see the lack of windows as a downside, it can actually be a plus for those who love sleeping in complete darkness. Plus, the smaller size of the room can make it feel even more intimate and comfortable. While interior rooms may not have windows or natural light, they still offer plenty of amenities and features that can make your cruise experience unforgettable.

This ship remains classic Carnival — fun-packed from bow to stern — but on the other hand, we've never stopped adding fresh new features. So now you can grab something cold, or sweet… or maybe even hot, at JavaBlue™ Café. Meet the new Cloud 9 Spa™, featuring a full menu of, ahhh, spa treatments.

Once you see the numbers, you can decide how much an extra bathroom or access to a concierge is worth to you. On the Miracle, we had 2 connecting extended balcony cabins on deck 7. I don't believe the balcony dividers opened; can't say for sure because we ended up cancelling those cabins as one of the passengers in the 3 berth couldn't go.

I’m not aware of any interior rooms larger than the premium option. From my experience, Carnival’s interior rooms vary in size and pricing. It’s important to compare room sizes and prices to find the best option for your budget and needs. Every stateroom has amenities (including your dedicated room steward) that rival land-locked five-star hotels. Expect soft, cozy linens, in-room safes, plenty of storage space, television, climate control and even bathrobes upon request. Still, some of that has begun to change with the debut of Carnival's new Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

I have gone on one of the Paradise standard rooms that fit 4 of us where everyone slept in bunkbeds...so I have a general idea about how small the room is. A typical cabin on a ship is probably less than half the size of a average size hotel room. It's quite different stuffing 4 adults into a cabin than a hotel room. I think plenty of ship have cabins connected by interior doors. Some ships have connecting OVs, some have connecting interiors.
